what is shinerama?

It's a charity campaign in support of Cystic Fibrosis Canada. Cystic Fibrosis Canada is a national charitable not-for-profit corporation established in 1960, and is one of the world’s top three charitable organizations committed to finding a cure for cystic fibrosis (CF). As an internationally recognized leader in funding innovation and clinical care, they invest more in life-saving CF research and care than any other non-governmental agency in Canada. For more information visit their website.

when is shinerama?

It starts at 6am on TUESDAY of 101 week! (TUESDAY = SHINE DAY) We will have teams of people going out to designated area’s around the city all throughout they day… But there’s always benefits to showing up for 6am!

what do we do?

On TUESDAY of 101 Week uOttawa students take over the downtown core in order to raise money for the cause. They dance, they sing, they beg, they use what ever talents they have (granted it’s legal and respectful) to get the people walking to work, unsuspecting grocery shoppers, and the average person on a casual stroll to empty their pockets to help fund life saving research!

why should you participate?

Firstly, it’s a blast! Some people argue that it’s the most fun you can have at 6am. As well, you get to meet great people, connect with people in your program, show off your talents (or find out that you have a new talent), get to know the city better, and raise money for a great cause!
